Humanitarian work

As a member of the Association of Lions Clubs International for more than 21 years, Lion Chaminda, is a dedicated, passionate, Humanitarian through the Lions Clubs International District 306 A1 since the year 2000. He is the Charter President of the Lions Club of Colombo Millennium and served in many positions in the club. He has also served in the Lions District 306A1 in various positions like District Coordinators, Zone Chairman and in the year 2019/20 he was the District Cabinet Treasurer. He also received in 2019/20, the Lions International President’s Distinguished Leadership medal. He was instrumental through the Lions Club in giving leadership to Village adoption programs, Pre-school education programs, Student Scholarship programs and Sightfirst programs.

Chaminda during his stay in Sydney Australia from Feb 2014 to Aug 2018, was heavily involved in Lionism even in Australia. He was a member of the Lions club West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook of Lions International District 201N5, where he served as Membership Chairman and Leo Advisor. In the year 2017/18 Lion Chaminda was appointed as a Zone Chairman of District 201N5, Australia.

He has great work ethics, outstanding personality, comradeship, understanding and embraces diversity of all forms.

Chaminda is married to Sashini Ambagahawita an attorney-at-law, and an active Rotarian. They are blessed with a daughter Daksha.

Village Adoption Program

Chaminda through the Lions Club of Colombo Millennium commenced a village adoption program in the year 2000. He has continued to assist the village of Rathmalgahawewa in Kahatagasdigiliya in the Anuradhapura District. Some of the areas that were targeted in this village were
The Pre-school education program, Scholarship program for 20 students at a time, Sunday School Program, Computer classroom, Sightfirst programs, Agro well programs.

Continuously provided Sunday School Annual prize giving since the year 2000. Including gifts for the voluntary Teachers.

Constructed the remaining 50% of the Wall around the Stupa (වළාකුළු බැම්ම).

Fundraiser for Lisa Harnum Foundation in Sydney

Organized a Lions Fundraiser for the Lisa Harnam Foundation in Sydney.

This Foundation provides support to women experiencing domestic violence and other forms of domestic abuse.

Raised a profit of A$ 12,000 and donated to the Foundation.
