Aitken Spence Elevators is a Joint Venture between Aitken Spence PLC and OTIS Elevator Company (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. Aitken Spence Elevators is the sole representative in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, for OTIS Elevator Company; the world’s largest manufacturer and service provider for people-moving products including elevators, escalators and moving walkways. OTIS Elevator Company is a US based Fortune 500 Company.

Chaminda has provided commendable leadership to Aitken Spence Elevators especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. He has been able to turnaround the Company, even during these tough times, by engaging the staff, motivating the staff, and leading them right from the front. He is a passionate, energetic, resolute, hands-on leader who works with his teams to bring out the best in them.

Under his guidance and leadership, the Company also introduced innovative products like touch-less buttons, Air Purifiers, Sanitized handrails, to their clientele especially during Covid-19 pandemic to make using of elevators safer and hassle-free. He also digitized and cloud hosted all manual files in the company hence making it accessible anytime from anywhere and also implemented a cloud-based Elevator Service management system to monitor and improve the service quality. Driving people, process and technology improvements for better customer and staff engagement, while introducing strategic growth, agile ways of working, new structures, cost leadership strategies and maximizing the bottom line of the business are his strengths. Another significant achievement during the year was giving leadership and guidance to obtain the prestigious ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 certificates for the Company for environmental impact control and occupational health and safety.

Laureate Australia includes some of Australia’s iconic education brands; Torrens University Australia offers a growing range of degree programs to students all over Australia, into the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

The scope of the project was to do away with the three obsolete systems that were not scalable, configurable and was not fit for current purpose. The project was to implement “Banner Student” a new scalable single Student Information System (SIS) configured to meet the business and regulatory requirements. Key business processes were revised to harmonize with global standard processes & improve efficiencies.

The business strategic objective was to simplify the business by delivering a single SIS, streamlining key business processes and improving the student experience and giving the organization easy management of the full student life cycle.

The National Broadband Network (NBN) is an Australian national wholesale open-access data network project. It includes wired and radio communication components rolled out and operated by NBN Co Limited. Rationales for this national telecommunications infrastructure project included replacing the existing copper cable telephony network that is approaching end of life and the rapidly growing demand for internet access. This is the largest infrastructure project in Australia’s history.

Project Scope was requiring system development to ensure that transactions are efficiently recorded and reported, and to ensure finance appropriately supports business decision making. Create additional capacity by removing inefficiencies and reducing the level of manual activities currently performed. Also design processes that ensure information is right at source – meaning the upstream provision of data must be improved ensuring agility and responsiveness to future business changes.

Seven West Media Limited is an Australian Securities Exchange listed media company and is Australia’s largest diversified media business, commonly known as Seven Media Group. It has a leading presence in broadcast television (7 Network), radio, newspaper publishing, magazine publishing and online (Yahoo Australia).

The project scope was to introduce a single system (Single Source of Truth) to record all transactions of this large group. Most of the companies were using different old obsolete systems and Excel for reporting, dashboards and data analysis. This project implemented Oracle Hyperion Financial Management which is a comprehensive, Web-based application that delivers global financial consolidation, reporting and analysis in a single, highly scalable software solution. We also implemented Oracle Business Intelligence which is a combination of strategy and technology for gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data from internal and external sources, with the end result of providing information about the past, present, and future state of the organization.

Aitken Spence Maritime is a sector of Aitken Spence PLC, Sri Lanka. Aitken Spence Maritime is the parent company of all the Logistics and Maritime Companies of Aitken Spence PLC (A Blue-Chip Company) with seven SBU’s. Their main business is providing Services to Clients. The companies have branches in South Africa, Mozambique, Bangladesh and Fiji with a total work force of around 390.

Was the Country head for the projects in South Africa & Mozambique. Carried out more than 12 projects in South Africa during this period. From providing Best Practices for port operations, to training of operators, training of trainers, work studies, business process re-engineering, change management and mentorship of operators and planners.

In Mozambique we were directly involved in port terminal operations and maintenance management of container yard equipment.
